Colloidal Silver as an Acne Treatment |

Colloidal silver as an acne treatment is becoming increasingly popular. Acne treatments themselves, even if summarily detailed, could fill perhaps an entire 10 page report. There are many ways to prevent, treat, or cure acne inflammations, and while some have never been confirmed by medical researchers, many have been verified to a degree by medical research.
Colloidal silver as an acne treatment is one of those. Still widely regarded as a holistic approach, colloidal silver is, nevertheless, making inroads in this area. There are several reasons for this.
- Colloidal silver's reputation as a tremendous antiseptic is well established. Antiseptics are effective in the fight against acne.
- Colloidal silver's role as an antibiotic also is extremely well received, though controversial.
- Colloidal silver has remarkable anti-microbial properties also. It is known to kill pathogens, bacteria, and fungi by halting their oxygen metabolism enzyme, thereby suffocating them.
Acne sufferers know how acne develops into full blown lesions. The
Propionibacterium Acnes, a bacterium that lives in the sebaceous
glands, thrives on fatty acids naturally secreted by the pores of the
skin to retain moisture.
Colloidal silver as an acne treatment, used as a topical solution, may
kill the Propionibacterium Acnes. While the medical community still
considers this little other than theory that remains to be proven,
there are convincing features in addition to personal testimony: the
colloidal silver's antiseptic property kills bacteria, and the
Propionibacterium Acnes is a bacterium.
Medical researchers have more work to do in this area, but funding is
normally not available for public domain materials such as colloidal
silver. It may be years before colloidal silver as an acne treatment is
clinically proven effective.
If you decide colloidal silver as an acne treatment is worth a personal
test, practice discretion. Overuse may result in a permanent blue tinge
to your acne cheeks.
